PRODUCT + PACKAGING

Is your packaging recyclable?

Our packaging is 97% recyclable, we are working on the other 3%.

Our Packaging is predominantly glass which is 100% blue bin recyclable. Components like the Locking Pump cannot be recycled, so we encourage customers to hold onto the first one they purchase and reuse on future orders and provide an aluminum cap modification on our SuperFluid + SuperOil products.

For information on how to responsibly recycle our packaging and clean our reusable components, please see our packaging recycling guide.

Are all of your bottles + jars glass?

Yes, all 3 products in our collection are bottled in Miron biophotonic violet glass.

We selected glass for our products because glass is 100% blue bin recyclable and can be recycled endlessly without loss in quality or purity. It is non-toxic, free from any harmful chemicals and generally not associated with a negative impact on your health. In order to stick rigidly to our values we had to offer a non-plastic, high value product—because the truth is if the packaging isn’t high value in both costs and aesthetics then it is more likely to be thrown out.

For an in depth breakdown of each packaging component and their recycling instructions view our recycling instructions.

Do you have samples?

Unfortunately, most sample sizes come in single use plastics and so we have refrained from offering these. We do our best to provide as much information as possible on the formulas and ingredients to help you decide if you are the right match for our products (or not), and we are always welcome to ideas on what other information could be useful.

Our team is working on a more sustainable sampling solution, which should hopefully be available very soon for select products.

Stay tuned.

Are you vegan and cruelty free?

Yes. Our products do not contain any animal products or animal by-products. Our products were never tested on animals at any stage during our development.

Are your ingredients organic?

We always use the highest quality ingredients we can find, and buy organic ingredients whenever they are available. We are working on a full ingredient glossary with details on every ingredient within out products including certifications and origin, stay tuned.

Where do you source your ingredients?

We use local, ECOCERT, and certified organic ingredients whenever possible and are intentional in how we source. We only use reputable suppliers that use environmentally responsible processes, have safe working conditions, and treat their workers with dignity so you can trust that your product is kind to your body + the earth.

To provide you with even more information, we are working on a full ingredient glossary with details on every ingredient within out products including certifications and origin, stay tuned.

What is the shelf life?

Since we use organic and cold pressed ingredients we advise that you use your product within 12 months of receiving it for best results.

Our dark glass packaging is purposefully designed to keep light from degrading the ingredients however we still advise storing them in a room temperature environment, out of direct sunlight.

Why do you have fragrance in your products?

We believe in neurocosmetics; this means that we think that what we put on our skin should benefit us emotionally as well as through physical performance. When applying a topical skincare treatment, its texture, its fragrance and its finish on the skin awaken our senses and provide real emotional impact. We developed our products to immerse the user in a full sensory experience, so we believe their scent is fundamental.

Our custom fragrances are specially formulated to avoid, or adhere to the acceptable concentration levels of the International Fragrance Association standard, ensuring that they are safe for their intended uses and are kinder on the skin. Their usage and limits are regulated by IFRA. Additional information on the application of IFRA Standards is available publicly at www.ifraorg.org.

What is the difference between natural + synthetic fragrance?

Natural fragrances are produced using only pure essential oils and aromatic isolates derived solely from natural, raw botanical sources. Natural fragrance oils carry the imprint of their harvest, the subtleties and complexities of their own individual makeup, as well as an innate power to influence and heal.

To be a natural fragrance, it must only contain substances already present in raw materials which have been isolated by purely physical means; using distillation, expression and extraction. Nothing can be chemically modified, the ingredients must be natural aromatic, raw materials such as essential oils, isolates, resins, distillates, extracts and volatile concentrates, absolutes, concretes, floral waxes, tinctures, and infusions of raw plant material; all free from anything synthetically made. Flowers, leaves, stems, wood, roots, seeds, and resins all can be used for extracting the precious essences.

Synthetic fragrances are aromatic raw materials that have either been chemically created (mostly from petroleum), or started as naturals and have had their chemical structure modified. Synthetic aromatic raw materials fall into the categories of chemically modified natural raw materials, nature identical raw materials and aroma chemicals that do not exist in nature.

A synthetic perfume will smell as it smells from start to finish, it can fill a room and follow you around all day. For many people this is the desired effect. A natural perfume blends with the wearer’s natural odours and skin types to create a personal fragrance which evolves and may be layered or changed throughout the day.

Are SuperOil + SuperButter safe for sensitive skin?

Skin sensitivities and allergies are very unique to each individual, so it is impossible to guarantee that any skincare product will not exacerbate or cause any irritation.

When using a new product, always patch test on a small area of the skin before applying it all over your body.

It is well known that essential oils can cause skin sensitivities in certain individuals. This is why our custom fragrances are specially formulated to avoid, or adhere to the acceptable concentration levels of the IRFA (International Fragrance Association) standard, ensuring that they are safe for their intended uses and are kinder on the skin.

  • Please be sure to visit our product pages and view the full ingredient lists for each product to find out if they contain any known allergens to you before purchasing and follow directions for use on the label.

My SuperButter has melted, what do I do?

SuperButter is an oil and butter based balm. High heat will cause it to melt, and potentially liquefy. This is normal and will not affect the performance of the balm at all but could alter its smooth consistency. In the summer months if heats to liquid form simply mix it and allow it to cool in the refrigerator and it will re-solidify. Then store in a cool dry place.

Are your products Unisex?

We believe that all bodies deserve high quality skincare and intimate wellness products. Every Field Trip product was developed to nourish all skin types and enhance all intimate experiences regardless of age, gender or sexual orientation.

Our water based lubricant is optimized to protect and maintain a healthy vaginal microbiome with proper pH and osmolality ratings, but it is safe for use during any type of sexual activity. Feel free to share with partners, or keep it all to yourself :)

Are your products safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

For medical advice and usage of specific products or ingredients during pregnancy or while breastfeeding always consult with your care provider. We are committed to using clean, natural ingredients in everything we make and have a detailed ingredients list for all of our products on our website so we encourage you to review the ingredient list with your doctor or midwife for reassurance.

What does “Iso Osmolar” mean?

The osmolality of a lubricant is important because the epithelial skin layer or the body’s natural mucus is constantly trying to maintain homeostasis, or an equilibrium of osmolality.

A perfect lubricant would be iso-osmotic, meaning it would have equal osmotic pressure, or its cells would have the same hydration levels as human plasma or vaginal secretions, meaning they are perfectly in balance and unlikely to cause any harm.

  • Iso-osmotic lubricant to most of the body’s secretions would have an osmolality range of approximately 250-350 mOsm/kg4, therefore the WHO recommends that the osmolality of a personal lubricant should not exceed 380 mOsm/Kg to minimize any risk of epithelial damage
  • SuperFluid is Iso osmolar (323 mOsm/kg) to protect the delicate epithelial layers (mucous membrane) from dryness, irritation and susceptibility to infection.

Read more about the importance of osmolality of lubricant here.

What does pH balanced mean?

The pH of a lubricant represents how acidic or alkaline the product is.  If the intended target population will use the product for vaginal intercourse then the pH should be compatible with a healthy pH of the vagina – which is in the range of 3.8-4.5.

A high vaginal pH level — above 4.5 — provides the perfect environment for unhealthy bacteria to grow and is associated with increased risk of bacterial vaginosis.

A balanced pH is essential for maintaining a healthy microbiome and preventing infection.

Is Superfluid compatible with condoms?

Yes, Superfluid is safe to use with latex and polyurethane condoms.

It is not safe to use with polyisoprene condoms.

Can I use Superfluid with toys + devices?

Yes, Superfluid is safe to use with all silicone, glass, natural stone, stainless steel, latex or wood devices.

Does SuperFluid contain preservatives?

Yes. Preservatives are required in cosmetics that are water based or water containing in order to prevent their microbial contamination with the growth of yeasts, moulds and bacteria. Product safety is our top priority so a preservative is a non negotiable.

That said, the type of preservative matters. The system selected for SuperFluid is compliant with ECOCERT and COSMOS, and is accepted by the NPA. It is a paraben-free, formaldehyde-free, and isothiazolone-free based system and all of the ingredients are approved for use in the US, Europe* and Japan† at the recommended use level (0.6-1.0%).
